Petfinder is a search engine for shelters and rescues. you can find many dogs and puppies in your area and the breed you want that need a home. just because your dog comes from a breeder does not mean it is a better dog. often rescues are just a good or better dogs. also when you rescue a dog the adoption is often less then if you were to buy a dog. plus you have a story to tell people about where your dog came from other than "i went to this lady's house and picked him up".
